General Summary: Working with the Director Advancement Services, the Systems Support Manager reviews, analyzes and evaluates business systems and user needs for alumni and donor data. This support includes report writing, imports, exports and ensuring database and data integrity. The Systems Support Manager stewards the accessibility, integrity and confidentiality of institutional data.

Report Writing: Builds and maintains positive, constructive partnering relationships with business units and has a deep understanding of their work environment, strategic goals and data systems. Provide business units with clear understanding of what data exists in the database. Produce accurate routine and complex data files for communication purposes.

Importing and Exporting Data: Executes scheduled imports of constituent records. Stays current with industry best practices, software technologies and development tools; assists management in planning future direction, streamlining existing operations and ensuring data that enters or leaves the database has integrity and accuracy.

Ensuring Database Integrity: Conducts routine data audits. Identifies, prepares and completes data cleanup projects. Collaborates with technical and business unit staff to ensure data is stewarded appropriately and communicate any technology changes to campus stakeholders. Works closely with the Director of Advancement Services to maintain appropriate policies and procedures. Maintains institutional data integrity and security. Clear understanding of governmental data regulations and security standards. Administrates and maintains institutional enterprise software systems, coordinating upgrades and testing as needed. Train new users on appropriate use of systems and data.

Manage Student Workers: Hire and train 1-2 student employees each year on data entry and cleanup projects. Supervise their work and design procedures for special data entry projects.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience administrating complex software applications/relational databases.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or comparable relational database.
  • Extensive Excel and Word experience necessary. Comfortable with Word merges, Excel formulas and other data massaging. Experience with SQL data query languages and data reporting/business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail is critical, with a highly organized approach to data management. Ability to learn complex data entry and procedures quickly. Ability to recognize the potential for errors with processes and reports and how to fix and prevent those errors.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • An active and maturing Christian faith, knowledge of and the willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian Community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience using the Raiser's Edge application strongly preferred.
  • Some supervision/management experience desired.
  • Ability to look for and evaluate new technology and apply it to office processes.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT; Blackbaud NetCommunity; advanced user of Excel; Microsoft Power Platform (Power Query, Power Apps, Power Automate); Business Intelligence/Reporting tools (Tableau, Argos, PowerBI). Knowledge of other Higher Education software and applications (Ellucian Banner, Slate, Workday) is a plus. Experience with SQL IDE tools is also desired.
  • Can help troubleshoot basic PC problems

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

Rate of pay: $27.40 - $29.80 DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
