Salary for this position is $54,848/yr. to $75,743/yr. (DOE)¿

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Electronics Programs Outreach and Student Support Manager, the Electronics Programs Outreach Specialist is responsible for leading the outreach and marketing for Electronics related degree and certificate programs. This position is responsible for the development of a marketing plan, establishment of social media presence and content creation, and the generation of marketing collateral for Electronics Programs. The Outreach Specialist supports student services for Electronics Programs related to recruitment, program orientation and other student success initiatives. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for recruiting students and representing Electronics programs at North Seattle College and Seattle College District events, navigator meetings, and other workgroups, as well as with community-based organizations and area high schools to build enrollments and strengthen student outcomes. The Outreach Specialist may also engage with current and prospective employer partners to expand existing partnerships and will work in collaboration with Outreach and Student Support Manager to facilitate new partnerships within industry.

This position is funded through the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) Aerospace High Demands FTE allocation, with funding guaranteed through June 30, 2025. If enrollment growth outcomes are met or exceeded, the funding has the opportunity to become a permanent, annual allocation.

Ability to travel to outreach events and activities outside the typical work schedule and primary work location.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-SPS.

Note that the Seattle Colleges District does not sponsor work visas and does not reimburse relocation expenses incurred by new hires.

What you will be working on:

Outreach and Marketing Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and develop marketing plan and material in collaboration with the Electronics Programs Outreach and Student Support Manager
  • Create and edit physical and digital marketing materials for Electronics programs, manage the development and production of marketing materials created by NSC graphic designers or outside vendors
  • Work with webmaster to keep Electronics program website current
  • Develop social media campaign and content for Electronics programs
  • Coordinate and conduct in-person and virtual information sessions as needed at NSC and other locations
  • Participate in NSC or Seattle Colleges hosted events, including quarterly Areas of Study orientation sessions, Fall Fest, Spring Fest, Discover Seattle Colleges information sessions and open houses, and STEM Career Fair
  • Table at career and job fairs, education fairs or events, community events, and other college or industry sponsored events
  • Attending industry networking events
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of Electronics programs hosted events at NSC, including the annual Technology Careers Fair and Prof-Tech Preview events.

External Partnership Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Opportunity Center (OCE&E) for involvement in relevant job fairs and to promote employment, educational and basic & social services resources available at Opportunity Center
  • Engage with community-based organizations to identify and participate in outreach and recruitment opportunities.
  • Engage with area high schools to facilitate partnerships with technical programs related to electronics, robotics, IT, and other relevant programs. Engage with high school teachers or staff involved in career exploration for high school students to identify ways to promote electronic training pathways.
  • Engage with employers at job fairs and through outreach efforts to facilitate partnerships that strengthen student outcomes.
  • Maintain shared documentation of external outreach and recruitment activities in collaboration with Outreach and Student Support Manager
  • Attending NSC Electronics Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings to learn about industry trends and hiring needs.

Student Success Responsibilities

  • Support electronics program exploration opportunities to current and prospective electronics students.
  • Provide orientation sessions as needed on and off-campus.
  • Create and update Electronics program marketing documents.
  • Research and compile job postings to share with electronics students and alumni via Canvas.
  • Perform data collection outreach to electronics students and alumni in collaboration with Outreach and Student Support Manager
  • Understand key education funding sources for students – Financial Aid, Workforce Education grants, Scholarships, Work–study – to help students with overview and provide referrals to those funding resources.
  • Promote awareness of campus support services and provide students referrals as needed.
  • Review student academic plan codes against class rosters quarterly and verify students with academic plan codes are correctly coded.
  • Verify students enrolled in electronics courses have a current education or academic plan. Refer electronics students without academic plans or needing plan update to Outreach and Student Support Manager.
  • Work with Outreach and Students Support Manager and Electronics faculty to gain understanding of Electronics programs, related employment opportunities and career pathways in various workplace sectors.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-2 years of related experience in education, or in a related advising, counseling, or social services setting, or recruiting
  • At least 1 year of experience providing support to students in K-12 or higher education in an advising or mentoring capacity, or related experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, included Word, Excel, Teams and OneDrive
  • Experience in marketing, outreach or recruitment activities for a program, service, or employer
  • Experience leading and collaborating with a team to successfully execute projects or events, from concept to implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to details and organization skills

Desired

  • Experience with visual design of promotional flyers or related
  • Demonstrated ability with graphic design software and creation of digital and physical marketing materials
  • Experience creating and managing professional content on social media platforms
