Salary Range for this position is $75,000/yr. to $79,950/yr.
Position open until filled/Initial review of application materials will begin on Tuesday, 6/4/2024.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-SPS Pro-Staff Union.
This position is typically scheduled to work Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Advising, the Manager, Running Start will be responsible for providing enrollment and retention assistance to students attending North Seattle College, and specializes in the coordination, management, and leadership of the Running Start Program.
This position supervises a Student Success Specialist.
What you will be working on:

  • Act as primary point of contact for Running Start program inquiries. Interpret and explain complex processes and guidelines to students, families, external partners, district, and college staff including admission requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Create individualized educational plans for Running Start students, including course selection and high school graduation requirements while implementing policies which support student success.
  • Advise Running Start students, concerning college admissions requirements, college transfer and professional/technical programs, degree requirements and transfer requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Running Start program including admissions, registration, advising, prospective student and family inquires.
  • Collaborate with appropriate college departments and staff to coordinate and implement admission, testing, orientation, and registration of Running Start students.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and training for Running Start Program personnel and support staff and training to faculty and staff on Running Start issues.
  • Collaborate and work closely with instructional deans to coordinate curriculum offerings for Running Start students.
  • Maintain working knowledge of articulation agreements between NSC and four-year colleges and universities.
  • Design, coordinate, and promote Running Start program information and activities through brochures, flyers, newsletters, workshops, multi-media applications and events.
  • Extract data from the student management system (ctcLink)to prepare, manage and distribute monthly enrollment reports for participating high schools and districts per OSPI and SBCTC guidelines.
  • Conduct regular, internal audits of student records for Running Start participants to ensure accuracy of monthly billing statements and collaborate with the college district office to implement timely billing and reporting.
  • Participate in the development of program priorities and budget management.
  • Participate in outreach/recruitment activities to promote greater awareness of NSCRS program and post-secondary options.
  • Monitor quarterly grades and transcripts to track, report and case manage Running Start students¿ progress and their overall academic success. Respond to sensitive and complex student issues and provide support and referrals when necessary.
  • Collaborate with student development and instructional division colleagues to proactively address student progress issues with RS students to ensure students on academic alert, probation or suspension are identified and referred to appropriate campus resources.
  • Utilize technology such as web-based Starfish, Microsoft Teams, and ctcLink systems.
  • Collaborate with campus departments, school district staff and state agencies to implement efficient admission, tracking and reporting systems and ensure all State polices are being satisfied.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-range Running Start goals based on quarterly student data, policy changes and program demands.
  • Provide monthly and annual program reports to administration based on quarterly enrollment, demographic and student progress data.
  • Make program recommendations and offer advisement to administration based on collected data, Federal, State and local policies.
  • Collaborate with Seattle Promise colleagues to communicate application information and procedures to Running Start students.
  • Communicate and work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
¿ Masters degree in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.
¿ Demonstrated experience with Running Start Programs.
¿ Demonstrated experience with database systems including the student database system ctcLink.
¿ One years experience with academic advising and educational planning in higher education.
¿ Knowledge of articulation and transfer agreements between community colleges and four- year institutions.
¿ Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
¿ Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and diverse physical and learning disabilities.
¿ Highly motivated, flexible, self-starter.
¿ Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
