North Seattle College is looking to hire a Dean of Student Success in the Student Services Department.

Salary Range for this position is $120,000/yr. to $124,000/yr. (DOE)¿

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Student Success is a full-time, exempt position that provides leadership, supervision, and budget oversight for Advising, Running Start, Financial Aid, Credentials Evaluation, Testing, Admissions, Registration, Records, Welcome Center, and Information Desk. This position is responsible for providing high-level leadership within the student services division and contributing to an improved student experience through continual improvement efforts and collaborative efforts across the division, campus, and district.

This position is typically scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.¿

This is an exempt, non-represented civil service position.

What you will be working on:

  • Directly supervise assigned student services leaders and managers, including the Director for Advising, Running Start Manager, Director for Financial Aid, Registrar, and Director for Welcome and Information Center.
  • Directly oversee and manage state allocation, and revenue budgets for areas supporting Student Achievement services, and support managers in developing and managing budgets for their areas, totaling more than $3 million.
  • Develop leadership staff through professional development plans and performance management.
  • Designs and maintains processes and practices in support of the successful entry and positive educational experience (on an ongoing basis) of students attending North Seattle College.
  • Provide leadership to all activities and projects undertaken in student support areas in the department, including compliance with FERPA, and other applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensures all reporting departments work well together, and with other departments, to achieve the common goal of integrated, coordinated services in support of successful student entry and persistence.
  • Manages, supports, and leads continuous improvement processes related to ctcLink SIS (Campus Solutions Pillar), Online Admissions Application Portal (OAAP), and the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC).
  • Serves on various college and district committees, effectively representing the division and campus.
  • Coordinate and Collaborate with Deans across the Seattle Colleges and the ctcLink Campus Solutions Project Manager to create and refine a common enrollment experience for Seattle Colleges.
  • Ensure representation to the North Seattle College at Washington’s Admission and Registrar’s Council (ARC).
  • Participates in the Student Services and Instructional leadership teams.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with other college offices.
  • Process and support resolutions to student complaints and academic grievances per policy and statutes.
  • Assist the Vice President for Student Services with related projects as assigned.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • Master’s degree or currently enrolled in a graduate program in Higher Education, Education, Management, Student Development or equivalent.
  • At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education and student services or student affairs.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working in a multicultural setting with diverse populations and an understanding cultural competency in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of FERPA regulations.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with technology and demonstrated ability managing student information and web-based systems and maintaining online services and websites.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership record.
  • Knowledge of and understanding of student development theory.
  • Knowledge of and understanding of policies and procedures related to admission and registration, financial aid, advising and Running Start in the community and technical college system.
  • Ethics and integrity, sound decision-making and judgment, tact and diplomacy, and project planning and management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and ability to work in diverse environments and with diverse populations of students.

The Position
