Description

Production Superintendent

Job Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to complete orders placed by customers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures Seaport's Safety Standards are upheld and adhered to every day.
  • Review work orders with the Production Manager to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from each bay within Seaport Steel’s facility.
  • Interprets specific orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Communicates the status of the work schedule to the appropriate managers across all facilities.
  • Interfaces with the Production Manager to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Ensure the best method of moving material to machines has been created prior to work area staging.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Review the accuracy of work completed.
  • Mentors staff to ensure work quality is at or above standards.

Education/Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

  • Ability to read, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager

Math Ability

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic arithmetic and ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Entieo.
