Position Summary:

Seamon Whiteside is in search of an ambitious and talented professional to serve as a Civil Engineering Team Leader in our growing Charleston, SC Office.

SW is seeking a Civil Engineering Team Leader that will focus on the management of SW personnel and clients. The ideal candidate for this position has demonstrated outstanding proficiency in civil engineering design, project management, leadership amongst fellow co-workers, client contact skills, and a has established a reputation throughout the land development industry.

The Team Leader is accountable for the overall success of the Civil Engineering Team - Single Family/Residential Sector and all assigned civil engineering projects within the team. This includes responsibility for the organization, morale, development, profitability, and overall success of the team. The Team Leader will be expected to foster the mentorship of other Civil Project Managers and demonstrate a strong sense of leadership amongst employees and peers both internally to SW and externally to public. This position will continue to seek mentorship from Principals to strengthen client, employee, and executive level management skill sets.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

Experience: South Carolina PE license required 

Essential Job Functions

Project Management

  • Review of all Proposals/Contracts (Scope of Work, establish appropriate fees and evaluate risks for projects and assess company liability related to contract terms and conditions
  • Monitor and intervene as necessary in the managing of Clients expectations on project requirements, deliverables, agency regulations, scheduling and project deadlines
  • Monitor Project Tracking Worksheets to manage current workloads and performance status of all assigned projects across the civil project team
  • In conjunction with principals, responsible for team staffing needs, team organizational structure, work assignments, interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary actions
  • Review of all teams Invoices for client billing
  • Monitor, assist, and intervene with management of multiple major projects with multiple project managers
  • Engage frequently in Business development opportunities to enhance SW 's presence in the community and amongst potential clients
  • Mentor all Civil Project Managers on project and client management skill sets
  • Assist PM's with Due Diligence research on assigned projects with the ability to identify potential risk factors to a project
  • Promote teamwork and company core values in all team members

Design

  • Full responsibility, accountability and engagement in the QA/QC reviews on all assigned civil design work and plan presentation across the team. Expected to administer general cursory review of project construction documents prior to submittals to clients, agencies, and contractors (issue for construction sets). Sign and seal constructions plans and supporting docs 
  • Manage the Assignment of Projects to Project Managers on the team appropriately based on resources and workload capacity
  • Assist Project Managers with sound and experienced judgement on engineering design decisions and solutions
  • Ensure and monitor the proper mentorship and continued education of each member of the team

Field

  • Monitor and assist Project Managers in Construction Admin responsibilities of all assigned projects throughout the entire course of construction (Pre-con thru Closeout)
  • Monitor and intervene as necessary on the coordination with clients, contractors, and government agencies to provide solutions to field issues, review change orders and pay apps, evaluate asbuilts, and coordinate project closeout
  • Monitor and assist Project Managers on suggested solutions to problem solving and troubleshooting issues arising in the field
