Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Data Systems and Processes, Vendor Strategy Management (VSM) Operations, the Clinical Finance Systems Analyst is responsible for generation of and processing of data systems and associated processes within the VSM Operations organization. This position is responsible for liaising with the managers of VSM Operations, stakeholders across the enterprise including but not limited to Information Technology, Accounts Payable, Corporate and Development Finance, Internal Audit, Legal & Compliance, and contract owners within the functions of the Research & Development Division.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Process approvals and payments for invoices submitted by sites/vendors/CROs; ensure payments are within contractual agreements
  • Ensure appropriate coding processes are followed for efficiency and consistency
  • Identify out of balance accounting records and reconcile with site/vendor/CRO and the finance department
  • Communicate directly with the site and vendors to resolve invoice differences
  • Conduct Quality Control process reviews and remediate as needed
  • Maintain the clinical financial database
  • Ensure documentation is maintained to support an audit trail in the accounting system
  • Support the VSM Ops relationship with Finance
  • Interface with Accounting for the close/reconciliation process
  • Serve as the VSM Operations site-related representative for study teams
  • Provide data for clinical trial forecasting and budgeting process
  • Ensure current insurance information and documentation is conveyed appropriately to broker
  • Anticipate clinical trial budget revisions due to out-of-scope services, enrollment delays, etc.
  • Process financial termination/closure of study sites
  • Process monthly clinical dashboard
  • Provide actual cost budget analysis
  • Manage special projects as required
  • Adhere to appropriate quality documents (e.g., SOPs, Training Guides), as applicable

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience within associated functions (e.g., pre-clinical, clinical operations, clinical systems, finance, R&D, purchasing or procurement)
  • Experience with a payment system and processes
  • Experience with financial analyses
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated detail-oriented skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
  • BS/BA from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven scope interpretation and negotiation skills, working through clinical study teams and other functional areas
  • Ability to manage a range of priorities to delivery and out of critical path for study start-up and conduct
  • Prior work with a matrixed and decentralized teams, around clinical trial, and drug development projects
  • Strong verbal and written ability with the English language
  • Experience with change management
  • Experience with working with international/global organizations
  • Experience with ClinPay or similar clinical financial site payment systems
  • Experience in biotech or CRO finance environment
  • Knowledge of CFR and GCP/ICH requirements, as well as European Clinical Trial Directive

The hiring pay range for this position is $63,000 to $81,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
