SEACORP is Hiring a Software Engineer II Near Middletown, RI
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Job Summary : SEACORP's Combat Systems Business Area is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment
- Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle
- Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software
- Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met
Experience : At least 3 years’ experience and proven performance in software engineering, including problem analysis and resolution, requirements analysis and definition, design, code, and integration testing
Key Skills:
- Proven knowledge and experience applying design patterns and object-oriented programming
- Experience with C and/or Java
- Candidate should be familiar with RedHat Enterprise Linux and git
- Knowledge of container technologies and orchestration preferred
- Experience with combat systems, control systems, QT, GPB, and AMQP is preferred
- Experience with Database technologies such as Oracle, MariaDB, or MySQL
Travel: 5%
Clearance: Secret
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - This positions requires the following physical activities: Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and looking at computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
