Our Finishing Services Hunkeler Operators is responsible for the overall performance of the Hunkeler Sheeter/Folder, to include, performing various tasks including but not limited to, setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance on the Hunkeler. They will be responsible for the setting up and running of a wide variety of jobs, and will be nimble in moving from one piece of equipment to another as the workflow requires. An attention to detail and quality is required in our ability to WOW customers with our quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and understand job tickets and layout instructions.
• Setup machine operation correctly according to job instructions/layouts before beginning job.
• Observe and monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are needed.
• Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure production of the correct product at high quality standards minimizing wasted time and materials.
• Troubleshoot machine problems to determine root cause and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain machine run speed standards and seek to improve these standards through waste elimination.
• Follow Job/Version sign-off and QC process to ensure all work produced meets customer quality expectations.
• Responsible for passing off all pertinent information to team members.
• Communicate with leaders regularly, keeping them updated on schedule deviations, job progress, and equipment performance including needed parts and consumables.
• Clean work area to ensure everything is in its place while running jobs and at the end of your scheduled shift.
• Respectfully work with, teach, coach and cross train with team members and other associates including temporary workers.
• Load and unload paper rolls on and off the equipment in a safe manner.
• Responsible for performing preventive maintenance on the Hunkeler cutting/folding system.
• Practice all safe work habits. Understand and follow company and industry safety rules.
• Wear appropriate safety equipment and report any unsafe equipment or conditions to your supervisor.
• Work in other areas of the company and assume other duties as needed (Be Nimble).

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written) are essential to appropriately interpret production instructions. 
• Ability to respectfully interact with customers and internal team members in a professional manner. 
• Strong attention to detail, high quality standards, mature judgement skills, and strong organizational work habits. 
• Must be able to read and measure with ruler, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in fractions and millimeters, measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have good computer skills.
• This position requires, or may require, access to “Client-Sensitive” data, PHI/ePHI access or authorization. Mandatory security training as well as background/drug screen/credit check will be implemented.

Preferred Education/Training and Systems 

• Knowledge about the print industry a plus. A strong Bindery/Finishing background is preferred. 
• A High School diploma/GED along with the equivalent industry related experience and training preferred.
• Production scheduling systems or production scheduling software familiarity preferred.
