Job Description
SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to provide mechanical support to production with an emphasis on maintaining and improving current production quality of biodiesel and co-products. A City of St. Joseph, Missouri Boiler Operator license is required for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:

• Maintaining and operating the plant safely and efficiently per established plans and procedures as directed by the supervisor.
• Communicate process unit conditions and information to the supervisor to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
• Operate and maintain the boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, etc. to ensure safe, efficient operation of the plant, including proper adjustments of operating conditions, process troubleshooting and communication with other operators and Operations Supervisors.
• Maintain established plant or equipment logs as required, input data into appropriate computer programs, and provide adequate turnover of plant status in writing and verbally to incoming Boiler Operators.
• Immediately notify the operations Shift Leader of abnormal operating situations and equipment malfunctions affecting efficient plant operation.
• Assist with and perform maintenance as requested by supervisor or lead.
• Be able to operate a forklift.
• Maintain a professional customer interface with every customer at the facility.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A City of St. Joseph, Missouri Boiler Operator license required.
• Degree from technical school or some college preferred, 5 or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years in a chemical or petrochemical environment required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and work orders in English.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds, climb ladders or platforms, and wear all safety and production related equipment required.
• Ability to solve complex problems. Ability to comprehend a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to apply mathematical applications to complex situations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift 50 lbs occasionally. Must be able to through all areas of production. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms. Must be able to wear all safety and production related equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment varies from plant production and outside climate conditions, based on the situation. Noise level varies upon which area of production employee is working in.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Thursday to Wednesday, 7 days on and 7 days off, working hours to be determined. Occasionally extended hours or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
