Position: Field Trip Specialist

Reports to: Supervisor of Early Childhood Education

Sea Turtle, Inc. is hiring a full-time Field Trip Specialist to help facilitate field trips and educational programs that support our mission both in person and in a virtual setting. This position is responsible for conducting onsite field trips, assisting with after-hours events, and providing logistical organization support. The desired candidate should be positive, able to work independently and in a team setting, and versatile in their educational program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• The field trip specialist will present a predetermined script and curriculum to school-age children, with a primary focus on onsite field trips but the possibility of outreach programs on an as-needed basis.
• The position will present education programs to children of all ages as scheduled to audiences of up to 200 people
• Assist staff with local community and promotional events such as parades etc.
• Required to read and retain regular updates on our hospital patients and resident sea turtles.
• Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in the related fields education, marine biology, environmental education, or marine science would be ideal
• Positive, energetic, and excellent communication skills
• Have a passion and drive for education of school age children
• Ability to read and retain written curriculum
• Flexibility with varying weekly work schedule to accommodate field trips and programming needs
• Ability to easily speak and interact with audiences of all ages
• Ability to enthusiastically entertain and engage children in pre-scripted content
• Ability to assess the needs of your program’s audience and adapt your delivery to better suit them
• Experience in speech, stage performing or entertainment is a plus
• Valid US Driver’s License
• Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus

Job Type: Entry Level, 25 to 40 hours a week

Salary: This is a non-exempt Full-Time Position with an hourly salary of $10.00 to $12.00, depending on experience.
