We are looking to add a Director of Materials to our management team! The person in this role will report to the President of SCS Interiors.

The Director of Materials will oversee and develop strategies based on Lean Principles surrounding the successful procurement and storage of raw materials and finished goods, managing contracts with current and/or new suppliers, while following established policies and procedures as well as Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. The Director of Materials will work closely with other departments to ensure high quality, cost-effective products are created, and customer satisfaction is maintained. Continuous improvement and ongoing refinement of procedures is expected, as well as compliance with all SCS Interiors Safety protocols. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervisory Responsibilities: The Director of Materials will be responsible for overseeing the work of the following staff members/roles:
  • Purchasing Agent
  • Receiving Coordinator
  • future positions related to procurement and inventory management
• Kanban Management: Manage SCS Interiors internal Kanban System
• Procurement: Oversees procurement of all supplies and equipment for SCS Interiors
• Inventory: Oversee all facets of inventory and storage management 

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field, with 3 years of Supply Chain or Manufacturing Operations work experience OR;
  • 7 years of transferrable Supply Chain or Manufacturing Operations work experience 
• Minimum of 5 years of Supervisory experience required
• Experience with Toyota Production System and lean manufacturing processes strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write, and understand written and oral English instructions;
• Must be able to see clearly and in color;
• Able to lift up to 50lbs;
• Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time;
• Must be able to use tools for the job, including but not limited to computers, rulers, tape measure, ladder or stairs;
• Able to learn FAA compliance regulations;
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all employee and company information;
• Acute attention to details and accuracy in work;
• Strong computer skills and prior use with an ERP system;
• Possesses a positive attitude, works effectively with the SCS Interiors’ Management Team
• Works independently in completing assignments when on the job.
• Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Must be able to present information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to meet with suppliers

Full-Time Salary & Benefits:

• Salaried Position starting at $85,000
  • Open to 4 or 5-day work week
  • This role is 100% on-site at our facility in Duluth, MN
