Scotsdale Unified School District is Hiring a 2024-2025 Limited Appt MTSS Behavior Specialist - District Wide Near Scottsdale, AZ

Limited Appointment 2024-2025 MTSS Behavior Specialist. The MTSS Behavior Specialist will coordinate and support a comprehensive, district-wide, social emotional support system. This will include supporting site teams to provide social- emotional, mental health and behavioral health services that directly address the needs of students. This position is responsible for providing school-wide-in-service education programs for staff, providing direction to other staff members who assist with intervention services and programs, maintaining and reporting appropriate data and records, and maintaining appropriate contact with community resources, agencies and organizations. This position supports the Director of Teaching and Learning and will work in conjunction with the MTSS Academic Specialist to create a cohesive MTSS Model.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  • Develop the capacity of schools/ and or community partners to ensure high fidelity of evidence-based practices such as Student Assistance programs, for addressing the needs of students with social, emotional or behavioral challenges. This will include training, documentation, technical assistance, outcome evaluation and continuous improvement planning.
  • Oversee the development of the comprehensive support model with ongoing training, implementation guidance, and professional learning processes to support that implementation.
  • Develop and deliver targeted, ongoing professional development and coaching to increase effectiveness of behavior management and restorative school culture and climate.
  • Support the training and implementation of Tier I and Tier II supports for school climate, classroom management, and social-emotional learning.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development of tools and processes necessary for schools and staff to monitor the fidelity of implementation of restorative practices for addressing the needs of students with social, emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Ensure all sites have a process to facilitate and document re-integration of students after placement for social emotional support, mental health services, and/or suspension/removal from school.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in communities and/or workshops related to prevention and early intervention
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary or related to the responsibilities of the position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

? Bachelor's Degree, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred. Masters or Doctorate preferred.

? Three (3) years of experience

? Any equivalent combination of experience and education would meet the minimum requirement.

Skills (position requirements at entry):

  • Education training, experience and knowledge in scientifically based prevention and intervention programs including Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)
  • Training and experience in the evaluation and determination of needs for and individuals and groups
  • Training and experience in the provision of mental health services to meet identified needs for individuals, families and groups
  • Experience in conducting trainings, workshops and classroom presentations
  • Experience working with youth and families in crisis
  • Knowledge of community resources, linkage protocols, interagency referral processes and effective procedures for follow-up and evaluation
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic influences on the student
  • Demonstrate skills in intervention, assessment and referrals
  • Knowledge of computer applications for data analysis and data storage
  • Knowledge of and experience in team building and the implementation and maintenance of effective team processes
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in survey development and other evaluation methods
  • Experience in data analysis and use of data for decision making

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move

objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
