Responsibilities include:
Receive turnover report from nurse and communication logs.
Administer the medications as prescribed by the staff psychiatrist and resident’s private physicians. Record on individual medication sheets. Administer standing order as per physician.
Assess physical complaints of residents.
Treat as per routine standing orders of the physician.
If indicated, arranges for evaluation of problem by physician.
Assess medical emergencies and arrange for the indicated treatment.
Enter all pertinent information in the case record in accordance with standard nursing procedure and facility policies and procedures.
Record in log, events that rest of nursing staff must be aware of and may require follow-up.
Keep Treatment Team informed of resident’s medications, treatments and medical and dental appointments.
Maintain sufficient medication supply, order same when necessary.
Responsible for implementing physicians’ written orders regarding medical treatments and medications.
Inform Nursing Supervisor of problems that arise.
Schedule outside medical appointments
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - External
Licensed R.N.
NYS Drivers License
Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting as required by the program.
Compliance with health regulations for physical/mantoux testing.
Attending TCI class for certification and passing a test upon completion of course is a minimum requirement for employment. No refresher required.
