Science of Sport is seeking out Teachers, Coaches, and those looking to get into teaching or coaching to be part of the MLB New Orleans Urban Science of Baseball STEM Camp staff. The Camp will be taking place from June 24 through July 25, 2024. These STEM and Sports camps will be for elementary and middle school students. Applicants must reside in the New Orleans, LA area and have a reliable mode of transportation. This is an in-person program at a single facility.

This is an exciting paid opportunity for a dynamic teacher, instructor, coach or educational advocate to learn Science of Sport's curriculum and teach local students the connections between STEM and baseball/softball. Instructors will teach part-time (9am to 1pm, 4 days a week for a maximum of 32 hours per week). Instructors will oversee a group of 1:10 coach:student ratio during the summer program.

The ideal candidates will have prior teaching experience or coaching experience.

Daily Responsibilities

• Instructing Science of Sport curriculum to elementary & middle school students during the summer program
• Facilitating enrichment activities outside of the classroom for a unique teaching and activity-based learning experience
• Collaborating with Science of Sport staff on daily logistics associated with the summer programs (e.g. permission slips, attendance, assessments, etc.)
• Keeping student performance notes and documentation
• Cleaning and organizing program areas, set-up and breakdown of equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional communication skills
• Experience working with middle school and elementary school students
• Ability to perform physical activities for 2-3 hours at a time including, but not limited to walking, jumping, standing, lifting, throwing and stretching
• Ability to follow a curriculum and work with science of Sport's program partners to achieve programming goals
• Ability to be on your feet in an active environment for 4 hours per day
• CPR Certified
