SCIENCE MUSEUM OKLAHOMA is Hiring a Social and Digital Content Specialist Near Oklahoma, OK

Description

The Social and Digital Content Specialist is an integral member of the museum communication's department, representing the museum’s identity through digital platforms. This is achieved by executing social media strategies, managing web content, and writing compelling stories in support of Science Museum Oklahoma’s mission to spark curiosity and encourage learning by exploring the wonder and relevance of science. Must possesses exceptional writing skills and have deep depth of knowledge of various social platforms and consumer and content trends. While primary responsibilities are focused on digital platforms, this position also supports the overall marketing and PR strategies of the museum.

Requirements

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative and engaging content for communication platforms including social media, website and e-newsletter
  • Write original copy with a clear and distinctive voice that represents SMO in a range of marketing and communications materials including reports, website, social media, email campaigns, newsletters and possibly blogs
  • Manage and grow the museum’s social media presence across all platforms while engaging and responding to comments, messages and reviews
  • Measure and monitor digital traffic, social media, Google Analytics, and adjusts campaigns and strategies as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications team in developing and executing marketing campaigns and with the Creative Media Strategist to implement branding and graphic designs appropriately
  • Work collaboratively with graphic designer and videographers to curate a compelling social story
  • Monitor the museum’s online presence and reputation, responding when appropriate or referring for action as needed
  • Research audience demographics, preferences, and consumer profiles to conceive campaigns with compelling call to actions using the most effective media method
  • Ensure accurate, updated and relevant website content and act as a liaison with website contractors
  • Create and monitor Google Ads and Meta ads, making adjustments as needed
  • Build relationships with influencers, content creators, customers, and other partners to create an engaged community
  • Conduct research and analysis of marketing conditions, identifying new opportunities and staying current with the latest trends 
  • Tracks analytics and generating reports and presentations to director monthly
  • Effectively communicate and promote SMO events, exhibits, and programs
  • Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with all departments
  • Ensure SEO tracking quality such as Meta tagging and AdWords, creates engaging and fluid website content, and content accuracy for SMO’s website on an ongoing basis and makes changes and updates as needed
  • Support the museum's team culture and high reputation through professional and collaborative representation 
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned

Necessary Credentials/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field or commensurate experience
  • At least 3-years of professional content management, communications writing, and analytics reporting
  • Advanced writing and editing skills, including utilizing AP style
  • Demonstrated experience and success in telling compelling stories through social media platforms
  • Digital ad creation, purchasing, A/B testing, preferred
  • Wordpress, Drupal or equivalent, GoogleAds, SEO and blog writing experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proactive, creative thinker
  • Detail-oriented
  • Skillful and creative writer, with excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail
  • Project Management
  • Digital marketing with social media (Loomly or other), website (WordPress/Drupal) and email (Mailchimp) marketing
  • Familiar with AP Style
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media management software required, experience in Wufoo and Mailchimp beneficial
  • While this is not a graphic design position, proficiency in Adobe Creative suite (specifically Photoshop and Illustrator) is desired
  • Sincere commitment to work cross-departmentally and collaboratively
