Science Academies of NY is Hiring a SUNY Pupil Services Coordinator Near Syracuse, NY

The SANY Pupil Services Coordinator is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the implementation of programs and services that support student behavioral needs, mental health, character education, and overall well-being across the district. This role integrates the expertise of a Behavioral Specialist, Dean of Students, and McKinney-Vento Coordinator, focusing on leadership in training programs, handling parent complaints, conducting superintendent hearings, and ensuring effective student services across all schools.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Behavioral Support and Discipline: Lead the development and implementation of district-wide behavioral management programs. Advise schools on individual behavior intervention plans and oversee disciplinary procedures in line with district policies.
  • Mental Health and Character Education: Drive initiatives to integrate mental health awareness and character education into school curriculums, collaborating with mental health professionals to enhance student support.
  • McKinney-Vento Coordinator: Ensure compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, providing necessary support and resources for the educational success of homeless students.
  • Conducting Superintendent Hearings: Manage and conduct superintendent hearings district-wide, ensuring processes are fair and adhere to district policies and legal standards.
  • Training and Professional Development: Design and facilitate training sessions for school staff on behavioral strategies, mental health support, character education, and effective techniques for resolving parent complaints.
  • Parent Complaints: Oversee a structured process for managing and resolving parent complaints at the district level, ensuring effective mediation and adherence to policies.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Collaborate with district leadership to develop and implement policies that promote student success and well-being, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively for student support services, including budgeting for mental health programs, character education initiatives, and behavioral support.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field, with specialization in behavior management, mental health, or student affairs preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an educational setting, with a proven track record in behavioral support, mental health initiatives, and policy development.
  • Knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Act and experience supporting homeless students.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to mediate conflicts and lead training initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting superintendent hearings.
