SEL’s Content Marketing Department is seeking an experienced full-time Instructional Designer to help create comprehensive, technical training for professionals in the power systems industry. Collaborating with a technical author, the Instructional Designer will help shape and design learning experiences that are elegant, sophisticated, and well thought out. These accredited courses range from teaching the fundamentals of electrical engineering, to training for the most advanced technology used to protect critical infrastructure – including cybersecurity, microgrids and blackout prevention. This position requires someone who specializes in adult learning theory as well as advanced elearning strategies using Articulate 360. In this role, Instructional Designers create paid training materials that can be taught by a range of expert instructors throughout the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with SMEs to develop long-form technical training concepts (40 hours ) Apply adult learning models (Addie, Merrill, Gagne, etc.) Design course materials using tools like MS Powerpoint, MS Word, Articulate Storyline 360, Camtasia, etc. Collaborate with creative departments to implement graphics and videos that enhance the learning experience Stay up to date with new technology, techniques, and instructional design trends. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. Understand. Create. Simplify. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Expert-level instructional design experience; minimum of 5 years (preferably with paid, technical training) Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Graphic Design, Digital Communications, Learning and Development, or equivalent experience Expertise with Articulate Storyline 360. Expertise with Powerpoint, Word, Camtasia Ability to communicate concepts and ideas. Experience working on multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under strict deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work on projects independently as well as with a team. Skilled at offering and receiving thoughtful criticism and feedback. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Background check results satisfactory to SEL. Negative drug test result(s).
