Use your firmware engineering experience to invent the future of protective relays at SEL. In this role you will collaborate with firmware engineers to develop an Operating System to be used in SEL relays. You will: Design and invent novel solutions to tough problems Write high quality, safety critical and dependable firmware along with a small development team Work closely with other firmware and hardware teams Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Specify, design, implement, and test elegant solutions for mission critical firmware. 2. Understand hardware and software interactions, and collaborate with Hardware Engineers. 3. Troubleshoot defects, performing root cause analysis. 4. Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes. 5. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. 6. Understand. Create. Simplify. 7. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Typically 2 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: Real-time firmware design Programming in C and C Object oriented design Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s) Preferred Qualifications Real Time Operating Systems Embedded systems development Controlling microprocessor peripherals Low level firmware development or writing assembly Scripting languages including Python or Perl Modern communication protocols Location King of Prussia, PA- This position is located in King of Prussia, PA.
