Lean / Continuous Improvement ManagerAre you looking for an excellent opportunity in the field of continuous improvement, lean and six-sigma? We have a great position at a well-known, consumer packaged goods company for an experienced Continuous Improvement leader. We have begun a great path in continuous improvement, problem solving, lean manufacturing and are looking for someone to join our team to continue and expand these efforts. General Position Summary:We are seeking a senior-level Engineering Manager with experience in Lean & Six Sigma approaches. This role will be the key driver for implementing a process-based plan for problem solving, process improvement, on-going waste and plant efficiency improvements and employee engagement on all continuous improvement efforts. What can you expect? Our operations need a focused individual to engage all levels with our focus on continuous improvement organization-wide. Specifically, this person will partner with operations leadership to monitor and improve waste metrics, equipment uptime, and overall plant efficiency. The person in this position will be an active part of the leadership team that has visibility over the entire company and will be the driver behind the continuous improvement and corrective initiatives focusing on our manufacturing operations across two primary locations. This is a hands-on role, interfacing with all levels of the organization, spending the majority of time directly supporting the manufacturing operations. This position has full support of the executive leadership team and exposure to the Board of Directors. Your Day to Day:

  • Assess current continuous improvement processes, identify, and develop opportunities for improvement related to overall manufacturing improvements, processes to attack waste streams, equipment inefficiencies, operator engagement, and standardization in a food environment with good manufacturing (GMP) and hazard analysis and critical control points (HAACP) requirements.
  • Closely partner with the Director of Operations, Plant Management, and Corporate Engineering to assess and improve manufacturing operations.
  • Bring a problem-solving approach to our operations through root-cause identification on a variety of high-impact issues that drive organizational profit and loss. Ensure aggressive and appropriate plans to attack and mitigate the concerns are in place.
  • Lead various Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) / Kaizen events with a future evolution to Design of Experiment analysis for processes like mix times, ingredients, etc.
  • Partner with maintenance and corporate engineer to ensure effective plans are in place for proper operation and / or restoration of equipment.
  • Bring a project approach to solving the issues on the floor and with our equipment.
  • Ensure a data-based approach to measurement tools and metrics in all continuous improvement efforts.
  • Launch 5S initiatives in needed operational, sales, agency, or administrative teams.
  • This role will be accountable to the President/CEO at this location with oversight from the Director of Operations and Director of Human Resources.
  • This is an onsite role and will require the individual to be present in the Youngstown area working.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelors degree (masters preferred) in Process Engineering, Operations, or other technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to show high-impact results in challenging manufacturing operations--A MUST!
  • 5-10 years in a role that was responsible for Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement oversight. 
  • Industrial manufacturing experience with strong project planning expertise. 
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously with all levels of the organization, including board of directors and hourly operators.
  • Ability to flex shifts where needed in addition to weekends as needed.
  • Engineering background with focus on lean and advanced manufacturing principles.
  • Advanced computer skills, notably in the MS Office programs.

Physical Capabilities:This role works in both an office and plant environment.Must be able to work in and around operating equipment in a manufacturing environment.Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for a combined 8 or more hours a day.Must be able to lift, push, pull or otherwise transport up to 25 pounds occasionally.
