Position Type: Seasonal
Salary Range: $16.00 Hourly

What to Expect:

Incorporated in 1968 by Nelson L. Schupan, Schupan & Sons has grown from a 6-person scrap metal recycler to an over-500-employee metals and plastics business specializing in industrial and electronics recycling, fabrication and distribution, beverage container processing and materials trading. The company has 15 locations throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

Summary of Role:

Seasonal Sustainable Event Operations Specialists are responsible for executing and managing clients’ onsite sustainable programs. Candidate may be required to work early morning, late evenings, weekends and holidays.

Key Highlights of Role:

  • On site management of sustainability programs from pre-event set-up, event day execution, and post event tear down.
  • Works collaboratively to communicate with Schupan staff, event staff, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve issues and build a working relationship.
  • Responsibilities include servicing of recycling, trash and compost bins; sorting of material; loading and unloading equipment; equipment inventory; and providing program oversight.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work outside in all weather conditions including, but not limited: heat, humidity, cold, snow and rain.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work a varied work schedule during the event, including early mornings and late nights.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Event management experience or sustainable industry knowledge or experience preferred.
