JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the daily, weekly and monthly process for all accounting functions including but not limited to Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Income Audit, and Cash Management.
  • Ensures compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
  • Lead and direct the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, and customer credits and collections. Work closely with property leaders to ensure accuracy of payroll and perpetual inventory integrity. Work closely with Corporate Accounting on fixed asset records, general & entity accounting and cost accounting.
  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for executive management team and ownership.
  • Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors
  • Manage and direct the performance of the accounting staff, to include team member relations, meetings, supplies, disciplinary action, and special projects. Ensure staff is motivated and trained to adequately perform at the expected level.
  • Direct responsibility for Property Accounting and provides guidance and support to other departments to accomplish accuracy and financial goals.
  • Assist in preparing annual budget and maintain controls on spending to ensure budgetary limits are met.
  • Coordinate and review monthly financial statements for accuracy.
  • Completes internal daily audits of cash deposits, transfers, and the preparation/monitoring of the capital budget.
  • Assist in the weekly forecasting process to provide and accurate financial picture to management and ownership.
  • Compile month-end reporting and complete month-end financial process in accordance with company time frames.
  • Monitor records of inventory to control accuracy of supply distribution.
  • Monitors systems to ensure accuracy of data (e.g., outlet menu prices) and support the achievement of revenue goals.
  • Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies.
  • If in the case of a 3rd party F&B entity on property where accounting is provided, work closely with that partner to ensure accurate reporting and provide support to ensure timelines are met.
  • Actively serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
  • Act as a storyteller for our Brand, our hotel, and it's decor
  • Work with colleagues to deliver inspirational service
  • Any other job duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Accounting/Finance or Business Education
  • 5 years of accounting experience preferred, preferably in a hotel environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Detail oriented; strives for excellence in all assignments
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the accounting department
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be able to apply mathematical operations to tasks
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with most proficiency in Excel
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
