Job Summary:

Schramm's Country Kennel is a small family-owned business that has been providing exceptional care to dogs for over 20 years. Our goal is to make sure every dog receives the best care and treatment possible.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care for our furry friends. Your responsibilities will include assisting with animal care, providing customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

We currently have part-time positions open. Available hours depend on the time of the year. Summer months and holidays are our busiest time, and more hours are available then.

Applicants need to be able to manage all breeds and most temperaments. Someone with patience and the ability to adjust to a dogs’ specific needs for handling and care is necessary. This job can be very demanding physically and fast passed.

Responsibilities:

- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners, ensuring their needs are met

- Assist with the daily care of animals, including feeding, medicating, and exercising

- Clean kennels and maintain a sanitary environment

- Administer medications as directed

- Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel

- Assist with animal restraint during nail trims

- Assist with pet exit baths as needed

- Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatments

- Be available to work weekends & holidays

- Work well with others in a team setting as well as have the ability to work alone

- Be on your feet and/or walk continuously for at least 5 hours

- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods of time

- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with pet owners and other staff members

Experience:

- Previous experience in a kennel or animal care setting is preferred, but not required

- Knowledge of basic animal care and handling techniques
