Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing healthcare services to students and promoting a safe and healthy learning environment. This position requires strong clinical skills, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and the ability to assess and address the healthcare needs of students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to students in accordance with professional standards and school policies
- Conduct health screenings, including vision, hearing, and BMI assessments
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions of students
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop individualized healthcare plans for students with special needs
- Educate students on health-related topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Promote a safe and healthy school environment through infection control measures
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body systems
- Proficiency in performing venipuncture and administering medications
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess, monitor, and document vital signs
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of medical information
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, and staff members
