School District of New Berlin is Hiring an Eisenhower Theater Director Near Berlin, WI

New Berlin Eisenhower is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead our esteemed theater program at New Berlin Eisenhower. The award-winning Eisenhower Theater program has a long history of providing our students with a life-long rewarding experience through performing arts. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a deep understanding of theater arts, dedicated to nurturing the artistic growth of our students, while captivating productions that showcase the talents of our middle school and high school students. As the Theater Director, you will be instrumental in shaping our students' creative and educational experiences while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Responsibilities:

Artistic Direction:

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of all theater productions. This includes, but is not limited to: selecting scripts, securing rights and royalties, conducting auditions, conceptualizing sets, costumes, and lighting, and overseeing rehearsals to ensure high-quality performances.
  • Provide artistic vision and direction to students, inspiring them to achieve their fullest potential in acting, singing, dancing, and related technical aspects of theater.
  • Collaborate closely with School and District leadership to align current and upcoming productions with educational goals and community expectations.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with faculty members, staff members, students, and families to coordinate and execute all aspects of productions.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with all stakeholders, including students, parents and community members..
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the continued growth and success of the theater program.
  • Foster an inclusive and respectful environment that encourages participation from students of all backgrounds and abilities.

Program Oversight:

  • Lead the Eisenhower Theater program with efficiency and creativity, overseeing all aspects of its operation.
  • Manage the program calendar, including auditions, rehearsals, productions, and out-of-season commitments.
  • Promote, maintain, manage, and ensure safety standards are being met at all times in all scenarios.
  • Coordinate with Eisenhower music department staff to develop comprehensive production schedules.
  • Manage theater budget, including allocating funds for production and technical needs.
  • Coordinate and supervise technical aspects of productions, ensuring smooth operation of sound, lighting, and other technical elements.
  • Ability to recruit, hire, and maintain the appropriate staffing for productions.
  • Coordinate partnerships with stakeholders to ensure areas of need are met.

Performance Evaluation:

  • Assess student performances, offering constructive feedback and facilitating growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate the success of productions and theater programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies for enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • Background and experience in Theater Arts, Performing Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in directing theatrical productions, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of theater history, acting techniques, stagecraft, and production design.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Ability to inspire, mentor, and guide students.
  • Proficiency in technical aspects of theater production, such as lighting and sound.

We currently serve approximately 4750 students with 4 elementary (K-6) schools and 2 middle/high (7-12) schools.
