Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Limited Term Contract Grade 6-12 Project-Based Learning Alternative Education/Social Studies Teacher at La Crosse Polytechnic beginning second semester of the 2023-2024 school year. La Crosse Polytechnic is an instrumentality charter school within the School District of La Crosse serving students in grades 6-12. Projected start date: January 22, 2024. This position has a Social Studies emphasis; therefore, a 1701 license is required. Multiple certifications are preferred. Alternative Education 1952 license is preferred. Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:

Course work and/or other training specific to secondary education
Course work and/or other training in student management techniques
Excellent listening, verbal, & written communication skills
People skills including positive problem solving, collaboration, & teamwork
Technology literacy
Lifelong learning commitment through credentials that reflect post-secondary training, conference attendance, & membership in professional & civic organizations
Timeliness in meeting deadlines, requests, & other professional responsibilities
The ability to provide a safe & positive learning environment for students
The ability to analyze data to support & enhance student learning
Position responsibilities:
Leads & manages an advisory of students from grades 6-8, 9-12, or 6-12
Coordinates with students on their individual projects
Plans & delivers innovative advisor-led projects in advisor’s content specialty
Possibly collaborates with another staff member in a large group, co-taught project
Collaborates with other staff members in monitoring, planning, & evaluating student performance in intellectual, social, emotional, & physical growth
Maintains accurate student progress & behavioral records
Interprets individual student progress to parents, students, & other professionals through positive conferencing techniques
Practices appropriate inclusion & instruction for students identified for Special Education Needs, English Language Learners (ELL), & High Performance Learners
Actively participates in staff development & other professional growth experiences provided by the school district
Maintains a positive & safe learning environment for students
Completes additional tasks as requested by administrators
