The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 40 hours per week, 12 months per year Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Central High School beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. Projected start date: July 3, 2023.ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Greet and assist visitors, students, parents, and staff in need of information. Serve as receptionist as assigned.2. Receive and route all incoming calls as needed.3. Perform daily office routines and practices associated with a complex, busy, student-centered office.4. Distribution of building keys/access cards to staff and substitutes as assigned.5. Perform computer tasks using Microsoft Word, Excel, Skyward financial and student management, general office equipment, and electronic communication.6. Schedule service for office equipment as needed.7. Maintain storeroom/workroom, including processing daily mail, monitoring inventory and processing supply orders as needed.8. Maintain staff paperwork at the building level (i.e., personnel forms/files, emergency cards, labor reports, phone directory).9. Manage phone and bell system.10. Assist with student assigned 1:1 electronic devices (i.e., insurance, parts, restrictions).11. Assist with communication and recordkeeping associated with discipline reports and letters.12. Other duties as assigned by the building Principal/Associate Principal/Dean of Students.13. Assist with budget management, purchasing, etc.14. Assist with organization of graduation.15. Assist with organization of Hall of Excellence selection and ceremony.16. Prepare and distribute school newsletter or other building communications as directed.17. Update and maintain school website and/or internal message televisions.18. Update, maintain, and prepare various handbooks (Student/Parent, Staff, Crisis, and Safety) for printing and distribution.19. Utilize Skylert system for contacting families regarding important school information.20. Assist in preparation of the yearly building budget and maintain appropriate financial records and reconciliation. Maintain and monitor deposits and expenditures associated with the building (i.e. student accounts, donations, grants, and PTO organizations/boosters).21. Maintain and monitor outside accounts such as La Crosse Public Education Foundation sponsored funds and Random Acts of Kindness.22. Process purchase orders, check requests, invoices, and procurement card transactions.23. Contact vendors and obtain information about new vendors.24. Responsible for all purchasing and supply inventory for school.25. Submit field trip bus requests and coordinate deposit and payment with vendors.Applicants are requested not to contact or send resumes to individual building principals. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:A. High School diploma required. Additional vocational/technical training beyond high school preferred.B. Possess excellent people and communication skills.C. Possess strong interpersonal skills such as tact, patience, courtesy, and confidentiality in all matters.D. The ability to successfully interact with people of all ages.E. Keyboarding, filing, and general clerical skills.F. Effective handling of all communications to the school office.G. Strong understanding of computer software (word processing, data management, budget software, Google Drive) and general technology (iPads, office equipment, PC, phone system).H. Ability to perform multiple duties in a student-centered office environment.I. Effective time management skills.J. Excellent attention to detail.
