We are seeking a fulltime Architectural Lighting Design Associate to assist our Lighting Designers in developing beautiful, unique, and sustainable architectural lighting designs for clients throughout North America.

The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to and documenting the firm's ideas and designs into a high-quality set of plans that can be submitted to the Authority Having Jurisdiction for permit and that can be bid by the Electrical Contractors.
  • Assisting with photometric calculations and energy code compliance calculations.
  • Assembling cut sheet packages for the luminaires and lighting control systems selected by the lighting designers.
  • Coordinating with the lighting designers, architects, landscape architects and the MEP/FP/IT design team to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
  • Other tasks assigned by the Lighting Designers.

What We Are Looking For:

Candidates must:
  • Be creative and have a desire to learn the lighting design industry.
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Have experience or a desire to learn photometric calculation software such as Acuity Brands' Visual and AGi32.
  • Have experience or a desire to learn how to perform energy compliance calculations per IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and California Energy Code requirements.
  • Have a desire to learn lighting controls per IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and California Energy Code requirements.
  • Possess exceptional communication and organization skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
  • Be able to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments with a desire to work efficiently.
Favored consideration will be given to candidates who:
  • Possess or in the process of obtaining a degree in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Lighting Design.
  • Have previous experience in the lighting design industry.
  • Are proficient in performing energy compliance calculations per IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and California Energy Code requirements.
  • Have a deep understanding of lighting controls per IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and California Energy Code requirements.
  • Are proficient in applying requirements of the building codes and life safety codes in regards to egress and emergency lighting.
  • Possess or have desire to obtain National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) Lighting Certification (LC) credential.
  • Possess or have desire to obtain LEED AP BD C credential.
  • Have previous experience in designing power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one line diagrams, and specifications.
