SCHLUTER SYSTEMS L.P. is Hiring a Plant Manager Near Roanoke, TX

Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for the start-up of a new production plant and the ongoing operations of 24-hour operation with accountability for all functions that support the manufacturing facility including production, equipment, maintenance, shipping, purchasing, scheduling, quality, IT and sanitation. This position will take ownership of ensuring quality and safety standards are being met across the plant and the staff of up to 40 persons is engaged with the Schluter vision.

  • Fosters an agile team culture to ensure swift response and embrace new opportunities and challenges
  • Encourages and promotes diverse perspectives and creativity on your team and embraces the concept of learning from failure
  • Able to operate effectively, remain calm, manage risk, and deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes. Ask a lot of “what ifs” and “so whats,” and scrutinize matters from different perspectives
  • Recognizes and understands the fluid nature of situations and exhibits the ability to recalibrate and course-correct as needed
  • Emotional intelligence to appreciate the complex challenges of team members and foster a more supportive and nurturing environment through building relationships and trust, and actively engaging with their team members

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously coach employees on how to understand and identify safety hazards. Develop a culture where employees actively participate in addressing unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Implementation and ensure the sustainability of key lean concepts such as 6S, continuous flow, Managing for Daily Improvement, TPM, and standard work through auditing, daily actions, coaching activities, customer satisfaction, and overall appearance of assets and work areas. 
  • Empower employees to view quality as a key pillar of our success. Mentor employees to “Do the right thing” for our customers at all times. Verify quality is controlled by conducting quality audits and utilizing escapes as coaching opportunities.
  • Foster a team culture of continuous improvement by ensuring open communication, empowerment, and idea generation and realization at all levels in the plant
  • Solve problems daily through structured problem solving by working together as an engaged team member with our engineering group, maintenance, and your staff. Ensure everyone has an equal voice and problems are addressed in the right priority according to their criticality. 
  • Train employees on problem-solving and engage them on issues to provide mentoring opportunities on how to; define the problem, identify root causes, propose solutions, take action, and measure the impact.
  • Provide on-the-job training, ongoing standard work audits, and continuous re-enforcement of work practices to ensure the work process is controlled
  • Coordinate the execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity
  • Analyze current and future capacities and implementation of improvements and expansions to support growth 
  • Determine plant policies consistent with corporate policies and direct and supervise the application of such to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Coordinate and escalate issues with supporting departments such as Human Resources, IT and R&D
  • Represent the company in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner in all matters
  • Develop operational and capital forecasts 
  • Monitor changing costs to ensure sufficient cost-reduction activities are in place and that product pricing is set appropriately

Requirements

Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience as a plant manager
  • Demonstrated hands-on lean manufacturing experience 
  • Strong aptitude for structured root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational process issues
  • Ability to work independently demonstrating strong technical knowledge and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Sound communication skills and excellent problem-solving ability
  • Possess skills required to improvise and adapt where needed
  • Strong ERP, Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Combination of experience and related training may substitute formal education requirements

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base pay offered will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for additional benefits to the base pay range listed above.
