Schernecker Property Services is Hiring a Site Safety Manager Near Daly, CA

What we do at SPS:

Schernecker Property Services, Inc. DBA SPS Condominium Remodeling Contractors (License 1110155) performs large capital improvement projects and maintenance for community associations. We are a growing company committed to our mission: Delivering the highest-value, long-term solutions to our clients and their properties.

What our Site Safety Manager will do:

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for demonstrating, enforcing, and maintaining a “Safety First and Zero Incidents” culture at SPS. You will support the Operations and Management team to ensure that each SPS project is produced as safely as possible while on time and within budget. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year. 

The responsibilities are expected to include:

Safety Training:

  • Orientation and safety training for SPS employees
  • Enable the Production Team to correct, enforce and manage safety guidelines and regulations
  • Lead and document periodic safety meetings for SPS employees.
  • Maintain SPS Safety Training Programs; update and refresh as needed

Safety Inspections:

  • Perform safety inspections, generate inspection reports, and issue warnings as needed for failure to comply with safety guidelines and regulations
  • Perform and document daily inspections on scaffolding
  • Formal safety policy tracking and analysis

Safety Compliance / Investigations:

  • Perform initial investigation and generate incident reports for both SPS employees and Independent Contractors
  • Follow-up with involved parties to ensure proper resolution

Project Safety Organization:

  • Assist in coordinating deliveries to ensure proper precautions are in place while machines such as Moffits, Lulls, and Conveyors place material around occupied homes.
  • Assist in coordinating work that may impact homeowner access and assist in the temporary plan and execution of temporary walkways and entrance pathways. 

Safety Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Effectively maintain proper safety records and documentation to comply with both Federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA
  • Compile and analyze safety data to identify areas of need with current job site safety. Utilize the findings to adapt new programs and training and accomplish our goal of “every worker and homeowner return home safely each night”.

A successful Site Safety Manager can fulfill these responsibilities through excellent and close communication with peers and management. They will also possess effective time management skills and a solid commitment to “doing the job right.” The Site Safety Manager role is a full-time, exempt position supervised by the Project Manager.

  • Leadership: Able to bring employees and other labor assets together to achieve goals. Wants to help people and organizations accomplish their objectives. Strong desire to act and be seen as a leader. 
  • Communication: Has excellent oral and written skills. Ability to recognize and maintain the need for confidentiality regarding specific work materials. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with peers, management, and vendors. The ability to understand Spanish is a plus. 
  • Organization: Can balance responsibilities such as safety, quality, crews, and client relations. Able to prioritize and accurately handle a diverse list of responsibilities. Balances the needs and requests of many people.
  • Reliability: Meets deadlines and delivers as promised. Gets the job done right the first time.
  • Construction Knowledge: Has working knowledge of carpentry, roofing, and scaffolding, especially regarding safety. Has strong knowledge of construction-related tools and equipment. OSHA 30-hour certification required.
  • Self-motivated:Is disciplined. Sets and works to achieve goals without needing to be managed. Identifies and overcomes obstacles and sees tasks through to full completion. Ability to work independently.
  • Team player: Works harmoniously with co-workers and clients with a team-first attitude.
  • Flexibility: A valid Driver’s license is required. Daily hours are determined as needed based on the day, but typically this is a 40 hour work week.
  • Physical component: Requires driving, lifting materials and equipment, climbing on roofs, and walking through job sites.
  • Technology: Is comfortable using Windows-based programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
