Scheck Hillel has an opening for an experienced Middle School Guidance Counselor for the 2024-2025 academic year. As a member of our Middle School Guidance team, this is a high visibility position working with students, faculty and administration, families, and others within our community.Responsibilities include: Counsels students on their academic, personal, and social development,mediates issues, coordinates student academic and behavioral plans, implements necessary schedule changes for students throughout the year, facilitates grade level student focused meetings, arranges and conducts parent/teacher staffings/conferences, identifies and monitors behavioral/emotional/academic needs of students, Provides individual and group sessions to assist with academic, emotional, social and personal issues relating to students, develops and implements guidance curriculum for social, emotional and cognitive development, provides individual, developmental, preventative, remedial, short term and/or crisis counseling, identifies community and school resources, maintains lists and makes referrals as necessary, identifies and develops plan for transition of all students at end of year, Interfaces with the admissions department in interviewing new students, arranges for placement tests, proper scheduling and coordinating their orientation to school, Supervision of students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.Qualified candidates must have at least five years of experience working in a similar capacity with middle school aged children. Must have excellent communication and listening skills along organizational, computer, and multitasking proficiency. Ability to effectively work in sensitive and confidential situations required.
