Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will work closely with our orthodontist to provide exceptional patient care and support. Your role will involve assisting with various orthodontic procedures, maintaining medical documentation, and ensuring a sterile and safe environment. A minimum 1 year of experience as a registered dental assistant in an orthodontic office is required. Experience with technology is needed including experience with digital charting, digital scanning, and digital model manipulation.

Duties:

- Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including taking X-rays, preparing equipment, and providing chairside support

- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and care instructions

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic systems such as Dolphin

- Follow all HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality

- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and disinfecting surfaces

- Take impressions of patients' teeth for diagnostic purposes

- Assist with the placement and removal of orthodontic appliances

- Provide post-treatment care instructions to patients and answer any questions they may have

- Collaborate with the orthodontist and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and excellent patient care

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required

- Current certification as an registered dental assistant

- Minimum 1 year experience as an orthodontic assistant required

- Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, terminology, and materials

- Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic health record systems such as Dolphin

- Experience with dental radiography and X-ray techniques

- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients of all ages

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately

- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and aseptic work environment
