We have fantastic opportunity for a Part Time Peer Specialist at our Montefiore Mount Vernon facility.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Peer Specialist focuses on educating clients about effective coping strategies based on personal experience, teaching them symptoms management skills, and assisting them in clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals. The Peer Specialist will utilize firsthand insight experience to assist clients in their effort to overcome barriers to Health & Wellness and provide them with skills development around community integration and linkage.
The Peer Specialist will be expected to provide a variety of services such as.
POSITION QUALIFICATION:
Must have NYS provisional or permanent certification as peer specialist. High Scholl Diploma or the equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have a clean current NYS driver’s license. Individual must possess good verbal, writing and computer skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
This position requires good interpersonal and organizational skills, with excellent reading comprehension, writing, and time management skills. Computer literacy is required including ability to use Microsoft Word & Outlook.
