Job Title: Middle School Assistant Principal

Description:Scarborough Middle School has an opening for an Assistant Principal. We are seeking a collaborative leader who:
Has a passion for working with middle school age students
Understands diversity and cultural differences, and develops strong community partnerships
Is versed in teacher supervision, evaluation, and school safety
Implements and monitors school-wide behavioral expectations and policies as stated in the Student Handbook.
Has knowledge of effective adult learning practices that support a learning organization
Is able to manage multiple tasks
Has experience with administrative aspects of 504 and IEPs
Assists in directing and contributing to the planning and logistical tasks of a large school
Actively participates in committees and ongoing educational work in the district and community
Participates in student activities beyond the school day
Has experience in Educational Administration
The successful candidate has middle school experience, knowledge of current educational practices and an interest in all aspects of managing a large school.

Scarborough Middle School, located in Scarborough, Maine, has an enrollment of 700 students. We pride ourselves on the relationships developed with our students, families, and community. We are proud to offer a solid academic program. SMS has many co-curricular activities including Student Council, Math Team, SMS News, Chorus,Theater, and a wide variety of athletics.
Qualifications:An advanced degree in Educational Leadership or its equivalent
Maine certification as Assistant Principal (045), or the ability to obtain such a certificate upon hire
