Location: 10180 Wadsworth Pkwy
Job Type: Full time, non-exempt
Position Pay: Starting at $17.29 to $20 / hour
Shift available: Some weekend work

The Visual Merchandiser-Store Support will be responsible for creating inspiring and functional room settings, and compelling merchandise presentations for their stores. The Visual Merchandiser work with design specifications and direction to maximize sales potential and support our advertising, marketing, and on-line promotions. The Visual Merchandisers educate our in-store staff about effective merchandising and display techniques. Our Visual team members are versatile and active professionals who work across roles, as part of a team in the showroom, office, and warehouse - anywhere their efforts are needed. Our VMDs are passionate about design and quality products and are committed to providing exceptional service. The Store Support aspect is a proactive role ranging from loading and assembling furniture, working with customers, processes orders and any other support needed across the warehouse, store, or office.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Implement and maintain inspirational showroom displays consistent with our design specifications, visual merchandising directives, and promotional calendar as directed by the Visual Merchandising Manager.
  • Create special displays to promote specific offers or products.
  • Draw /sketches designs to illustrate your ideas and vision.
  • Optimize store space and layout; keep all displays current and take down old displays.
  • Provide feedback to Visual Merchandising Manager about important issues including buying, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure prices and other key information can be seen and are consistent with directives.
  • Emphasize correct stocking direction, signage placement and general maintenance.
  • Maintain the showroom, sales counter, shelves, and stockroom ensuring the flow of product provides an engaging experience to every customer, every time.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager and in-store staff on showroom changes and maintenance, keeping accurate control of inventory.
  • Physically set up or switch out displays with support from store staff as needed.
  • Perform some light furniture assembly and gather specific tools needed for each display solution with help from the team.
  • Stay up to date with our product range, features and benefits, and stock levels.
  • Remain current with product development, design trends, interior design techniques and functional home furnishing solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to create and present training on products, merchandising and effective display techniques that generate staff engagement.
  • Use your energy and enthusiasm for design to actively participate in in-store meetings, Visual Merchandiser meetings and training sessions within the market.
  • Understand and follow our company policies and procedures.
  • Treat all staff and associates with respect and professionalism, working effectively and efficiently together.
  • Load and unload merchandise from trucks, assemble merchandise correctly and handle with care to prevent damage.
  • Greet our clients and answer our phones in a prompt, professional and polite manner as part of our team.
  • Perform transactions in our sales and inventory system (POS), complete customer orders, taking payments, and handling order-entry for the sales team and setting up delivery dates for customers.
  • Consistently observes safe lifting methods.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service during merchandise pickups and safely load merchandise into the customer’s cars.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and maintenance within the working environment and with all equipment and tools.
  • Follows all company safety and accident procedures while on company premises or operating company vehicles or equipment.
  • Exemplify a team approach and be open and honest in communication and help others when they need assistance.
WHO YOU ARE
  • Prior retail, interior design and/or display experience preferred.
  • Successful associates have a wholehearted customer service approach with a professional and welcoming presentation.
  • Able to articulate knowledge of current trends in home furnishings, fashion and culture and apply imagination and creativity in each aspect of your role.
  • Knowledge and use of color and design concepts.
  • Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to illustrate ideas and concepts by drawing and sketching.
  • Competency using Microsoft Word and Excel; skill in Auto CAD is a plus. Ability to read and understand floor plans.
  • Able to use hand tools (hammers, drills, and levels), ladders and lift 30 lbs. unassisted.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check.
EDUCATION
A Degree in Design or related field is preferred or a high school diploma/GED or equivalent. We welcome applicants who bring their love of design, retail experience and expertise to the team.
