As the CNC operations coordinator, you will provide support to projects associated with multiple academic departments and the college infrastructure, drive the shop truck multiple times a week, and oversee daily use of the CNC lab. In this position you will be expected to make parts for students and SCAD usage while supervising and instructing any additional CNC operators. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the lab and equipment, maintaining a system of records for documenting workflow, editing CAD files in preparation for programming, and communicating with students on CNC usage procedures.
The coordinator will be expected to coordinate with faculty on coursework and schedule lab usage time and to demonstrate lab capabilities during special tours. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the studio equipment, proper techniques, and safety procedures. Additionally, you must follow all OSHA regulations and requirements, ensure efficient usage of the lab, work overtime as needed, and maintain a professional appearance.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have relevant CNC experience and experience with Rhinoceros, Solidworks, or similar software, with a proficiency in 3D modeling
• Knowledge of Mastercam software and can demonstrate a detail-oriented approach to work with an ability to multitask in a deadline-oriented environment
• Possesses knowledge of wood, wood processes, and woodworking machinery while being able to measure dimensions of finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
• Reviews program specifications to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, and numerical control sequences
• Requests maintenance and repair of equipment; verbalizes knowledge of programming errors
