Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienist to provide quality care to our patients. Your role will involve assisting with various dental procedures, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and providing retraction
- Take dental x-rays
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring impressions and fabricating temporary crowns
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices
- Maintain accurate patient records and document treatment plans
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's appointment calendar
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a dental assisting program preferred
- X-ray certification required
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Proficient in using dental software (Dentrix) for scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations for maintaining patient confidentiality
