The Position:
As a Sr. Technical Product Manager at Savvas Learning Company, you'll be working with a highly-capable team of product leaders, architects, UX designers, and engineers focused on building efficacious learning experiences on Savvas' flagship learning management system, Savvas Realize. Your primary responsibility will be to define, own, prioritize and deliver on a backlog of features that are all ultimately in support of improving teaching and learning.
What you'll do:
Collaborate with designers, product managers, business analysts, architects, and engineers to translate high-level business objectives into actionable features and stories with clear acceptance criteria for development by engineering teams.
Use quantitative and qualitative methods to balance business and technical needs.
Surface user and business value in our engineering objectives for prioritization conversations with our product leaders.
Perform acceptance and ad-hoc functional testing of new features.
Effectively manage trade-offs between cost/schedule versus real business benefit/need.
Manage the refinement of business value, ensure the work is planned, organized, and delivered based on priority, identify risks and collaborate with Program Management on mitigation and tracking, communicate effectively and adapt to inevitable challenges.
Manage and coordinate technical integrations across multiple lines of business.
Coach and mentor junior technical product managers and business analysts.
Manage a small group of business analysts.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Science or related field.
5 years experience as a technical product manager (or technical product owner), leading small to medium sized scrum teams that work in agile workstreams.
2 years experience as a people manager.
High-level demonstrable understanding of typical technology architecture and modern software engineering patterns used in web development at scale.
Experience managing, translating and distilling requirements across multiple products into features and bite-sized user stories with clear acceptance criteria that engineering teams can implement within a sprint.
Strong customer focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Self-starter, accustomed to working in a changing environment, who takes pride and ownership in their products.
Excellent communicator, comfortable having technical discussions with both internal and external developers, as well as discussing high level concepts with both internal and external stakeholders.
Comfortable and confident facilitator of communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to work with cross functional teams to drive the implementation of new features as well as resolve operational issues.
Strong preference for candidates with experience in K-12 education.
Strong preference for candidates with relevant agile experience and product owner certifications (e.g., CSPO).
Strong preference for candidates that are familiar working with Amazon AWS.
