K-12 Science Content Developer (Part-Time) (Seasonal)

**This position is scheduled to be a temporary part time role**Savvas prides itself on employing highly skilled, passionate, dedicated Professional Learning Content Developers who focus on applying best practices in instructional design, content area pedagogy, multimedia content, and professional learning. Our Professional Learning Content Developers have a deep understanding of K-12 Teaching and Learning, Science Standards and Research-Based Pedagogy, and Culturally Responsive Instruction. They are also very comfortable learning to use new technology, leveraging that to create outcomes-driven, digitally-enhanced professional learning content.

In order to design professional learning offerings that resonate, Professional Learning (PL) Content Developers are in constant communication with educators across the country, gathering firsthand knowledge of their goals and needs. This valuable insight is used to create professional learning resources and experiences that strategically move educators from the known to the new and result in pedagogical changes that affect student learning outcomes that are observable in the classroom. PL Content Developers work as a team to help ensure that professional learning resources and experiences are authentic, content-rich, research-based, and outcomes-driven. As such, the team engages in ongoing feedback conversations and corresponding revisions to professional learning assets.

In addition to designing professional learning content, individuals in this role collaborate with various stakeholders throughout Savvas, learning about programs/program-specific efforts and helping colleagues understand and support professional learning offerings. Professional Learning Content Developers see professional learning offerings from conception through to delivery and revision, coaching those who will facilitate professional learning out in the field. Additionally, in support of an iterative development process, Professional Learning Content Developers reflect regularly with service specialists, using K-12 educators' evidence of understanding to revise professional learning resources and experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The functions and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and author professional learning scripts, PPts, videos, and other PL tools (e.g., student-focused rubrics; protocols for professional learning communities)
  • Develop and manage web-based asynchronous courses and other multimedia assets
  • Collaborate with fellow PL Content Developers - across content areas and grade bands, helping to enhance our research-based best practices and embed those in our PL offerings
  • Ensure current research on content area pedagogy, standards, and professional learning is clearly represented, intimately woven into all professional learning resources
  • Coach services specialists to facilitate professional learning experiences as designed (model, co-plan, reflect)
  • Work with sales representatives and services specialists to collaboratively facilitate conversations with districts and schools about their teaching and learning goals, their current teaching and learning practices, and the ways in which our professional learning may support them
  • Revise professional learning materials based upon field evidence

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, online learning, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five years' K-12 Science focused teaching experience with demonstrated success in student achievement
  • Minimum of five years' experience with K-12 Science focused instructional design/curriculum development
  • Minimum of five years' experience with K-12 Science focused professional learning (teaching and learning processes for adult learners)
  • Knowledge of proven instructional strategies designed for student success in the identified subject area; ability to develop and execute strategies for self-guided and web-based audiences
  • Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards, 3-Dimensional Learning, Instructional/Engagement Best Practices, assessment systems, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, and remote/online learning
  • Strong competence with technology including developing and presenting content, multimedia management, using email, Google Drive, and the internet, analyzing data, documenting processes and procedures, participating in and hosting of webinar sessions
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) appropriate to a wide variety of audiences, including educators, district adminstrators, community and parent groups, and colleagues
  • Ability to analyze projects, solve problems, prioritize tasks, and work on multiple assignments within tight deadlines in order to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Proven effective organizational and time-management skills, with great attention to detail
  • Strong soft skills used to manage the work, set priorities, reflect, and formatively assess progress toward outcomes
  • Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires flexibility, self-direction, creativity, and strong communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's in Education or related field preferred
