SAVORY SPICE SHOP is Hiring a Store Manager Near Lahaska, PA

Savory Spice, headquartered in Denver, CO (www.savoryspiceshop.com), offers over 300 different spices, herbs, hand-crafted seasonings, extracts, and sauces. Unlike the spice aisle at the grocery store, customers can wander our shops, smelling and tasting. We grind and blend our products in small quantities and use only the highest quality ingredients.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage staff.
  • Prepare staff schedules.
  • Open and close the shop and the POS system.
  • Provide general sales and customer service on the floor.
  • Greet and interact with customers; educate customers on our products.
  • Ensure store cleanliness and organization.
  • Coaching and execution of excellent customer service on the sales floor.
  • Expediting shipments/deliveries and creating orders weekly.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and during the holidays, which includes extended hours.

The Nitty Gritty:
Location: 32 Peddlers Village, Lahaska, PA 18931
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $40,000 - $43,000/year
Benefits: Vision, Dental, and Health insurance (employer pays a portion of employee health insurance)
401K contribution after working for the company for one year, or 1,000 hours
Ten paid holidays per year
PTO accrual and rollover (capped)
*Note: Blackout dates for PTO are November 1 - January 5 every year due to high volume

The Skills and Know-How:

  • Minimum of 3-years management experience in the retail industry
  • Analyzing the business and trends; strong business acumen
  • Ability to recruit, hire and train team members
  • Engaging retail floor personality
  • Customer management skills
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Merchandising skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Cash handling and POS knowledge necessary
  • Team scheduling experience
  • Strong coaching skills
  • Love of food is a MUST, but food experience is not required

The Physical Piece:

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.

The Details:
This role is responsible for the overall running of their Savory Spice location. We look for the following in our General Managers.

  • Hiring & Training:
  • Ability to communicate hiring needs, including recruiting, to fill open positions quickly.
  • Identifies training needs and provides ongoing coaching/training to the team as needed.
  • Provides strong team leadership while helping deliver consistent, in-the-moment feedback and coaching.
  • Business Acumen:
  • Works with the Director of Store Operations to build business strategies to expand store traffic and customer base and grow profitability.
  • Propose innovative ideas to increase store sales.
  • Demonstrates desired behaviors to help meet sales goals.
  • Handles store administration, such as maintaining inventory and ensuring compliance of all policies and procedures.
  • Creates monthly schedule for team.
  • Expediting shipments and deliveries weekly.
  • Creates orders weekly when needed.
  • Daily Sales:
  • Consistently creates a welcoming environment for customers by greeting and meeting their needs, leading by example for the team.
  • Regularly communicates with the team and Director of Operations on all store-specific happenings and discusses store opportunities.
  • Open and close the shop and the POS system.
  • Ensures that all pricing, signage, and displays are always correct.
  • Maintain store standards, cleanliness standards, and visual standards.
  • Be a shining example to the team in behavior and performance.
