Description

As the Senior Advisor, Database Administrator for Save the Children's Head Start Programs, you will lead the management, analysis, and recommendations for data within our Head Start initiatives across multiple states. Your role includes system setup and design, implementation, monitoring, and technical support for all Save the Children's Head Start programs. You will collaborate with the Head Start National Team, including the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Directors, Quality & Compliance team, and other senior advisors, as well as our parent company's Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team. Your responsibilities include providing training and technical assistance to system users to ensure the integrity and quality of the data that drives our agency's strategic direction. In this leadership role within Database Administration, you will work closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Directors, and the Quality and Compliance team to ensure database operations align with Head Start Program Performance Standards, as well as internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations. Your contributions will be crucial in improving program effectiveness through data-driven insights and supporting local staff in maximizing the use of our database systems.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Data Analysis (30%)

  • Analyze data across states and within individual programs to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Generate reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Utilize database systems, such as ChildPlus and Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), to create reports and analyze program data and identify trends.
  • Provide recommendations for program improvement and design based on data insights.
  • Collaborate with the Head Start Quality and Compliance team to analyze data and offer training on database systems when necessary.

Database Management (25%)

  • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and security of databases containing Head Start program data from multiple states. Ensure data consistency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and manage the database system, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Manage role and access levels of all database users.
  • Identify and investigate complex system issues.
  • Document data principles, processes, and best practices for database administration.
  • Maintain internal scorecards and support Program Directors in reviewing and submitting Program Information Reports.
  • Travel to Head Start program locations across multiple states to provide onsite support, training, and technical assistance, as needed.
  • Travel to strategic planning meetings, as needed.
  • Collaborate with Business Technology Solutions to enhance database functionality and efficiency.

User Support, Training and Technical Assistance (25%)

  • Serve as technical resource for system users, virtually and on-site as needed.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including an administrative manual for databases and agency-specific data entry manuals.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and technical assistance to program staff based on data analysis to enhance their capacity in data utilization and program management.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to local Head Start program staff on database systems and teaching strategies based on data analysis.

Strategic Planning and Leadership (20%)

  • Lead the implementation and management of the data support model for Head Start programs, aligning with organizational goals and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) team to ensure data quality controls and processes are aligned with program objectives.
  • Work closely with monitoring and evaluation team to provide relevant data on Head Start programs aligned with the overall agency strategy.
  • Serve on the Head Start management team, attending regular meetings virtually and in-person and contributing to program and operational initiatives.
  • Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging - supporting Save the Children values

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in leading a team and collaborating with others to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and establish effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience in analyzing data, documenting issues, and compiling business information.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and allocate resources effectively.
  • Proficiency in database management systems.
  • Experience working with Teaching Strategies and Child Plus
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Head Start program regulations and standards.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $108,800 - $121,600 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $98,600 - $110,200 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $88,400 - $98,800 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
