What You'll Do in This Position

SRNS is seeking to hire Senior Startup Engineers to Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of startup or testing for a project exercising independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, substantial adaption, and modification of standard techniques, guidelines, procedures, and criteria. Work may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting requirements, unsuitability of conventional methods, or difficult coordination requirements. Devises new approaches to startup or testing. May supervise limited startup and testing activities on an assignment or project.
Plan, schedule, and conduct detailed phases of startup, testing, operations, maintenance for a project. Review designs for plant operability and safety and job site requirements. Assist with the preparation of operations manuals. Plan, guide, or prepare project administrative and technical documents as required for startup, maintenance, operations, or testing. Coordinate startup and testing between project engineering, construction, specialty staff groups, clients, and vendors. Assume a lead technical and administrative role over other engineers for specific tasks as assigned.
May direct overall startup and testing activities on specific assignments or a project. Train assigned personnel and assist them in their professional development. Provide technical direction and assign work to engineers, technicians, crafts, or others as assigned for specific projects or tasks. Monitor construction activities that directly interface with assigned tasks for possible impact on startup or operating services activities.
This position may be eligible for varying levels of telework. Amount of telework, if any, will be determined by job scope, candidate location, and other factors related to the position.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential

Other Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.

Qualifications We Desire

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Fire Protection Engineering with work experience in startup, operations, maintenance, or testing.
Successful completion of 80 semester credit hours of the technical portions of an engineering, engineering technology, or related science program (electrical, fire protection, engineering) with work experience in startup, operations, maintenance, or testing.
NICET Level III or IV in fire alarm subfield or factory certified by a fire alarm system manufacturing company with a working knowledge of National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72) and National Electric Code (NFPA 70) Article 760.
Previous operational experience with various types of fire protection systems including water-based, gaseous suppression and fire pumps and familiarity with related NFPA codes and standards such as NFPA 13, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 20.
Experience performing detailed design reviews and developing commissioning test documentation for projects involving fire protection and lift safety systems.
Basic knowledge of pertinent industry or regulatory standards.
Basic knowledge of construction or field engineering, of engineering systems, and applications of startup/test methods.
Basic knowledge of code, mathematics, computers Basic communication skills.
