As the CNC generalist machinist, you will be responsible for adjusting machines to control speed, material feed, and path of the cut, as well as ensuring the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality output.
Responsibilities will include assisting students with the fabrication of course-related projects by utilizing CNC technology in the shop;
providing support with departmental and university infrastructure; and creating parts for special projects, renovations, and construction.
In this position you will be expected to clearly communicate with students on necessary procedures and information for CNC use, edit student CAD files as needed, program and execute three and five-axis CNC projects with Mastercam, and work collaboratively with the operations coordinator and shop staff to assist students with their projects.
It is the responsibility of the CNC generalist machinist to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the lab for all SCAD members, following all SCAD and OSHA policies and procedures.
The person in this position must maintain a professional appearance at all times and be able to work a flexible schedule, including over time, as needed.
