Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools is Hiring a PrincipalEllis Montessori Academy Near Savannah, GA

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is the administrative leader of the school, and as such, assumes full responsibility for all aspects of the school program.

REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent
SALARY SCHEDULE: Principal
WORK DAYS: 229

REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Level: Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Preferred: Earned Doctorate

Experience, Skill and Certification:
  • Eligible for Georgia Leadership certification, Tier II.
  • Willing to enroll and pursue additional graduate course work in administration and supervision
  • At least six years successful experience in education
  • At least three years of administrative or supervisory experience in education and at least one of these years as an Assistant Principal OR three years principal experience.
  • Internal candidates must not be on a professional development plan at the time of application.
Preferred: Previous successful experience in a Montessori educational institution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Supervises and maintains the school plant operation, personnel, students, curriculum and records within the school in order to provide a continuous learning environment that is within the laws of the state and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Board.
  2. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and to solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; interprets Board policies and administrative directives and discusses and resolves individual student problems.
  3. Interprets Board policies and administrative directives to appropriate stakeholders.
  4. Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and maintains student discipline as necessary, according to due process and respecting the rights of students.
  5. Utilizes all resources of the school system and the community in developing the most effective educational program.
  6. Leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
  7. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
  8. Develops master schedule, class matrix, and assigns classrooms to make maximum utilization of space and optimum learning
  9. Consults regularly with and coordinates the services of the resource personnel so that all classroom teachers will receive effective assistance.
  10. Supervises the instructional staff in the development and implementation of curriculum, discipline, and student activities.
  11. Assumes responsibility and accountability for all student data at the assigned school.
    1. Ensures that student data is entered, maintained, and reported in an accurate and timely manner.
    2. Provides leadership in the appropriate interpretation of data;
    3. Provides the instructional staff with appropriate data in usable formats for use in the preparation of instructional plans;
    4. Uses the results of appropriate comparative reports in planning for changes in the school's instructional program;
    5. Prepares comparative reports of student performance as measured by the testing program and provides the reports to appropriate personnel.
  12. Serves as the financial officer of the school and is accountable for all financial operations including payroll and timekeeping, purchasing and purchasing cards, fixed asset inventory, and student activity funds.
  13. Coordinates and supervises such support services as maintenance, security, food services, recreational programs, financial and accounting functions, library activities, etc.
  14. Evaluates all personnel attached to the school, and recommends removal of staff members whose performance is unsatisfactory, according to state law and established procedures.
  15. Conducts staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, etc., for the proper functioning of the school.
  16. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other materials required or appropriate to the school's administration.
  17. Requisitions, distributes, and maintains inventories of all materials, supplies, and equipment used in the school.
  18. Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
  19. Participates in principals' meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate.
  20. Works collaboratively with district staff.
  21. Utilizes appropriate school-based management processes to enhance the operation of the school.
  22. Plans, implements and monitors all professional learning opportunities for staff to ensure that thriving Professional Learning Communities are operational and that all staff are provided appropriate learning opportunities.
  23. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

Terms of Employment
Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 229 days. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience.
