Position Summary

The Key Holder is responsible for opening and / or closing the store and ensuring that proper store procedures and policies are followed when store management is not on duty or unavailable on the floor. The Key Holder will supervise employees and oversee sales, merchandising, guest service and all operational functions in the absence of store management. The position is an entry level supervisor position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include assisting in but not limited to the following:

• Act in a "supervisory" role in the absence of store management 
• Oversee employees in completing tasks and achieving goals
• Manage sales floor with a focus on retail and mead - must be current on all product knowledge
• Promote and provide customer service, coach employees, and mitigate product loss
• Flex and replenish merchandise
• Open and close the store following proper documented procedures and cleanliness standards
• Ensure that registers are properly opened and closed, doors are opened and locked and alarms are set correctly. Protecting company assets at all times
• Confirm that deposit slips, spreadsheets, envelops and deposit bags are correctly filled out and discrepancies are reconciled by accounting
• Perform cashier responsibilities such as return/exchange, check approvals, issue merchandise credits according to store policy
• Remain current on all company policies and ensures that all policies, standards and procedures are maintained and followed consistently
• Ensure consistent flow of communication to store management
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Ability to process information and merchandise through computer system and POS register system
• Ability to communicate with associates and guests
• Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store
• Ability to work specified hours (no less than 32 hours per week)
• High School Diploma or GED (not in school or planning on attending school within the next year)
• 2 years of progressively responsible customer facing retail experience
• Demonstrated competency in sales, products and service
• Ability to motivate and lead diverse teams
• Knowledge of retail merchandising practices
• Solid communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work the Mead Bar (must be at least 21 years old)
• Beekeeping experience or willingness to learn and love of honeybees

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
