Savage offers competitive benefits that include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability, a retirement plan, paid time off and opportunities for growth!Pay range: $22.00 to $24.00 depending on experience We are seeking a Logistics Coordinator, who will partner with the Operations Manager in coordinating the rail movement of products in, out and around the container yard Please read on for additional details.Prepare daily switch activity in a way that ensures safety, efficiency and meets the customer’s needsMonitor 3rd party rail activity happening onsite, such as Union Pacific rail movementsCoordinate and track railcar inventories, car locations and movements within the container yard; as well as perform routine field inventory auditsCommunicate railcar movements to all interested parties such as rail crews, production units and Savage leadership by phone, radio and/or emailUtilize and maintain the logistics system required to coordinate all inbound and outbound railcar trafficConfirm Way billing Status on all containers leaving the container yard.Certify in all areas of the operation (switch person, Reach Stacker operator, Laborer, Gate Clerk) and fill in as necessaryUnderstand the unique needs in all areas of the container yard and see that you work to meet expectationsCommunicate with the Operations Manager on any operational problems or issuesMake sure all team members have everything they need to be successfulEnsure work performed by operators is in compliance with regulatory agencies, industry best practices and according to written procedureCoordinate with onsite personnel and outside vendorsTake an active role in safety program including attendance to all safety meetings, adhere to procedures and ensure safe behaviors of self and coworkersOther duties as assignedExperience utilizing data management programs a must. Experience with the Union Pacific logistics system a big plusAbility to key in information efficiently and accuratelyEffectively interpret multiple streams of data and utilize it to advise Supervisors and Management on critical decisionsAbility to schedule work and plan schedules to accommodate productionA sound understanding or aptitude to learn the transloading of shipping containersUnderstands, or is willing and able to learn, safe railroad operationsMust pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor-vehicle report and criminal background checkMust be able to attend and pass all test associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: OSHA, and FRA related coursesAble to reliably fulfill a set 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Schedule (Monday – Friday).Work well with all team members at the facilityUnderstands, or had the capacity to learn, railroad operationsStrong customer service skillsExcellent computer skills, office organization and administrationCan multitask and prioritize work assignments while meeting deadlinesDemonstrates a sense of leadership and ownership for responsibilities, yet is teachable and willing to learn from manager and othersPositive attitude; treats others with fairness and respect – expects the same in returnIs honest in dealings with the company, employees and customersEducation/ExperienceDispatching and/or logistics experience a plusMinimum two years’ experience in a customer service environmentHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredWork experience in an industrial environmentFor safety reasons, must be able to read, write and understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions, in English Physical RequirementsWill balance time between an industrial outdoor and office environmentAble to work outdoors in all weather conditions: wind, rain, snow, cold, heat, etc.Comfortable working from heights over 15 feetAble to pass a respirator fit test. May be asked to work under supplied airAble to crawl under rail cars and work in tight spacesAble to stand on their feet for long periods of time, up to 4-hoursMust be able to sit for prolonged periods of timesMay be asked to travel long distances, on occasion, for additional trainingWilling to receive calls and make callouts during days and evenings#IND1
