Pay range: $22.00 to $24.00 depending on experience
We are seeking a Logistics Coordinator, who will partner with the Operations Manager in coordinating the rail movement of products in, out and around the container yard Please read on for additional details.
Prepare daily switch activity in a way that ensures safety, efficiency and meets the customer’s needs
Monitor 3rd party rail activity happening onsite, such as Union Pacific rail movements
Coordinate and track railcar inventories, car locations and movements within the container yard; as well as perform routine field inventory audits
Communicate railcar movements to all interested parties such as rail crews, production units and Savage leadership by phone, radio and/or email
Utilize and maintain the logistics system required to coordinate all inbound and outbound railcar traffic
Confirm Way billing Status on all containers leaving the container yard.
Certify in all areas of the operation (switch person, Reach Stacker operator, Laborer, Gate Clerk) and fill in as necessary
Understand the unique needs in all areas of the container yard and see that you work to meet expectations
Communicate with the Operations Manager on any operational problems or issues
Make sure all team members have everything they need to be successful
Ensure work performed by operators is in compliance with regulatory agencies, industry best practices and according to written procedure
Coordinate with onsite personnel and outside vendors
Take an active role in safety program including attendance to all safety meetings, adhere to procedures and ensure safe behaviors of self and coworkers
Other duties as assigned
Experience utilizing data management programs a must. Experience with the Union Pacific logistics system a big plus
Ability to key in information efficiently and accurately
Effectively interpret multiple streams of data and utilize it to advise Supervisors and Management on critical decisions
Ability to schedule work and plan schedules to accommodate production
A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the transloading of shipping containers
Understands, or is willing and able to learn, safe railroad operations
Must pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor-vehicle report and criminal background check
Must be able to attend and pass all test associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: OSHA, and FRA related courses
Able to reliably fulfill a set 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Schedule (Monday – Friday).
Work well with all team members at the facility
Understands, or had the capacity to learn, railroad operations
Strong customer service skills
Excellent computer skills, office organization and administration
Can multitask and prioritize work assignments while meeting deadlines
Demonstrates a sense of leadership and ownership for responsibilities, yet is teachable and willing to learn from manager and others
Positive attitude; treats others with fairness and respect – expects the same in return
Is honest in dealings with the company, employees and customers
Education/Experience
Dispatching and/or logistics experience a plus
Minimum two years’ experience in a customer service environment
High School diploma or equivalent required
Work experience in an industrial environment
For safety reasons, must be able to read, write and understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions, in English
Physical Requirements
Will balance time between an industrial outdoor and office environment
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions: wind, rain, snow, cold, heat, etc.
Comfortable working from heights over 15 feet
Able to pass a respirator fit test. May be asked to work under supplied air
Able to crawl under rail cars and work in tight spaces
Able to stand on their feet for long periods of time, up to 4-hours
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of times
May be asked to travel long distances, on occasion, for additional training
Willing to receive calls and make callouts during days and evenings
