Savage Services is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Fernandina Beach, FL

The successful Equipment Operator candidate will safely perform the basic tasks required to load, unload, and move breakbulk/bulk products including aggregates, break bulk (lumber, plywood, paper, etc.) and containers at our Marine Terminal located in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Here is what you will be doing
  • Follow proper safety rules and operating procedures to support zero tolerance safety objectives
  • Operate/maintain heavy equipment including front end loaders, reach stacker, forklift jockey truck, mobile harbor crane and gantry crane.
  • Complete and maintain required daily paperwork
  • Housekeeping duties, sweeping, washing down of work areas, and keeping restrooms, break rooms, and work rooms clean and tidy
  • Assist Maintenance personnel, as needed and directed
  • Occasionally work in areas outside of your normal duties, when instructed by Supervision
Requirements of a successful Equipment Operator
  • Must have the ability to obtain a TWIC card
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Be able to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Physically able to handle large tools, climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend ladders, and should not have a fear of heights
  • Possess Environmental & Safety awareness
  • Must be able to work a rotating (days/nights)12-hour shift to include weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary
  • High School diploma or GED
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write and understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Computer/tablet skills
  • 1 year marine, plant, or industrial equipment experience
  • Equipment certifications are a plus
  • Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus

  • Equipment Operators are routinely required to work outdoors and as a result are exposed to the elements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to Stand/Walk for long periods of time
