Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital is Hiring a Surgical Services (Sterile Processing) Technician (Full Time) Near Prairie, WI

POSITION SPECIFICS

Title: Surgical Services Support Technician

FTE: Full time (1.0 FTE)

Schedule:  10:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Holiday Rotation: None

Weekend Rotation: None

On Call Requirements: None

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for decontaminating, preparing, sterilizing, storing and distributing sterile instruments/reprocessed supplies to all departments, patient transport, assisting with patient and room prep in surgical area, terminal cleaning of operating rooms.

POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Wash and decontaminate instruments for operating room, emergency room, physical therapy, OB, various other departments and the clinics.
  2. Process and assemble instrument sets.
  3. Sterilize all instruments.
  4. Knowledgeable about names of instruments.
  5. Transport all sterile items to departments.
  6. Maintain all records pertaining to sterilizers, Steris System I and sterilization parameters.
  7. Maintain knowledge of use of all sterilizers and decontamination equipment.
  8. Order, fold and store linens.
  9. Assist with room turnover by removing trash and linen, mopping floor and putting equipment away.
  10. Terminally clean the OR suite daily which includes surgical lights and external tracks, all furniture and equipment, including wheels and casters, hallways and room floors, handles of cabinets and push plates, ventilation faceplates, horizontal surfaces, sub sterile areas, scrub utility area and sinks.
  11. Be aware of Material Safety Data Sheets information for Surgery Department.
  12. Be knowledgeable of all chemicals, disinfectants, equipment, supplies and the appropriate use in the surgery area.
  13. Protect patients’ rights, including maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information about patients and others

Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: None

Experience:

  • Required: Experience in instrument processing.
  • Preferred: None

Licenses and Registrations:

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: None

Certification(s):

  • Required: Certification in Sterile Processing from an approved program required within the first 2 years of date in position
  • Preferred: None
