Certified Nursing Assistant – Acute Care – Summer Employment

Summer employment options available from June 4, 2023, though August 18, 2023, in our Acute Care and Surgery Center departments. Work hours vary based on department needs.

• Variable but primarily between 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, Monday through Friday

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to:

1. Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
2. Establish and meet timeline for patient care and other forms of work.
3. Answer patient call lights within the parameters outlined by unit-specific guidelines.
4. Provide basic hygiene that may include bathing, oral care, and dressing of patient.
5. Assist with toileting, turning and ambulation in accordance with policy and procedures.
6. Takes patient vital signs, to include blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, oxygen level and glucose monitoring.
7. Timely and accurately relay and document information to include physical and mental status changes, vital signs, meal consumption, liquid intake, glucose results, distances walked, and daily bowel movement and urine amounts.
8. Effectively relay information to the next CNA on shift, or to the nurse in charge. Participate in bedside reporting.
9. Safely care for multiple patients. Use safety precautions appropriately.
10. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment equipped with adequate supplies for each patient.
11. Ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Removes and tags equipment from patient use when in need of repair.
12. Demonstrate understanding and utilization of Universal Precautions, asepsis and infection control procedures.
13. Maintain a clean and orderly work area and entry vestibule.
14. Monitor screening supplies and report needs for additional supplies.
15. Clean returned wheelchairs prior to reuse by another patient.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications :

Must have current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Basic Life Support certification is required with the first 3 months of employment.

Work Experience :

Preferred – Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
